Beliefs

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Savior of the world and that in Christ we see the love of God fully expressed. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. We believe that all people are loved by God.

There are two ordinances of the church which Jesus instituted: Baptism and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Baptism is for those mature enough to make that decision on their own, it is by immersion upon one’s public confession of Jesus as Lord and Savior, and is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is celebrated every week. All people who believe in Jesus Christ are invited to participate in the Lord’s Supper. It is a time of reflection, confession, and renewal as we remember Christ’s sacrifice. “This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” I Corinthians 11:24.

We believe that all people are gifted by God to serve Him and share the faith with others. Every member of the church is a “minister” in that sense. Growing in our faith, serving Christ, sharing our faith, and reaching out to those in need is central to who we are as a church.
